Tripoli, March 26, 2024 (Lana) From the headquarters of the General Information Authority (GIA) in Tripoli, the Digital Laboratory launched the Innovations Map platform, an electronic tool that will serve as a comprehensive resource linking innovators, businessmen, researchers, and investors throughout the country.

“This platform is the result of cooperation between the GIA, various Libyan institutions, and our international partners. It shows existing digital initiatives and lays the foundation for a prosperous and innovative digital ecosystem in Libya,” the head of the authority, Abdel Baset Al-Baour, said.

The launch of the lab for the map of digital innovations, which was established under the supervision of the GIA with support from the E-nable project, funded by the EU and implemented by the France Experts Foundation, is a positive step towards implementing the national strategy for digital transformation through a collaborative team to generate ideas and share experience.

The digital lab team includes representatives from various major government institutions in Libya interested in digitization, technology, and innovation.

Director of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Libya, Marton Benedek, said, “Digital technologies can act as a catalyst to support key policy objectives, including supporting economic resilience, enhancing the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises, supporting the green transition, and developing new digital skills.”.

“The digital lab, created by the E-nable project, is a tangible result aimed at strengthening innovation and investment capabilities in strategic value chains, networks, and digital ecosystems. The EU will continue to support Libyan institutions to keep pace with digital transformation and adapt governance systems to our digital world,” he added.
