Washington, April 23, 2024 (Lana) The Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), Al-Siddiq El-Kabeer, and his accompanying delegation discussed with the Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Jihad Azour, in the presence of the Executive Director of the IMF Group Office, Bahadur Bijani, and the IMF team of experts the preparation for holding consultations on Article Four for the second year in a row between the Fund team, the Bank, and the relevant state institutions in May 2024.

The CBL said in a statement yesterday that the meeting, which was held at the Fund’s headquarters in Washington, discussed the latest developments in the unification track, financial and economic situations in Libya, measures of the CBL to maintain the financial sustainability of the country and exchange rate stability, efforts of the CBL to achieve further transparency and disclosure, and programs of technical support and training.
