Cairo, April 23, 2024 (Lana): The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, warned of the political deadlock in the Libyan crisis.

Aboul Gheit stressed in a television interview that there are no indications of reaching solutions that open the way to holding presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya.

“We hosted the Libyan leaders in the Arab League, and we will host them again, but there are no indications of concepts that open the way to holding the elections in Libya,” Aboul Gheit said.

The Arab League held a meeting last March in the presence of the President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ageela Saleh, and Head of the High Council of State, Mohamed Takala, with the aim of facilitating the Libyan-Libyan dialogue.

Aboul Gheit stated that during the talks, the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Libya and the rejection of any interference in the Libyan political process were emphasized, and a technical committee will be formed within a specific period to resolve the outstanding matters in accordance with the legislation in force and form a unified government whose goal is to supervise the electoral process.
