Strengthening Libyan-Chinese relations in the economic and trade fields

Tripoli, April 24, 2024 (LANA) - The Minister of Economy and Trade of the Government of National Unity, Muhammad Al-Hawaij, discussed with the Chinese Chargé d’Affairs to the State of Libya, “Liu Jian,” strengthening economic and trade relations between the two countries.

The meeting, which was held yesterday, Tuesday - according to the Ministry’s Information Office - discussed activating and supporting the Libyan-Chinese Business Owners Council, to help facilitate the work of the private sector, enhance economic and trade cooperation, exchange visits, and form joint cooperation committees in the two countries.

Minister Al-Hawaij directed the relevant departments of the Ministry of Economy and Trade of the Government of National Unity to provide facilities to Chinese companies wishing to work in the Libyan market, and to solve the problems and obstacles they face in resuming their work and completing investment projects, stressing the importance of the role of major companies in investing in the State of Libya.

In turn, the Chinese Chargé d'Affaires affirmed the desire of companies in his country to resume their work in Libya, contribute to the implementation of investment projects, and open direct communication channels between the Chinese Embassy in Libya and institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Economy and Trade, to organize official visits and bilateral meetings that include business owners, chambers of commerce, and joint chambers, with the aim of Creating real partnership opportunities between the private sectors in the two countries.
