Bamako, March 18, 2024 (Lana): Malian President Assimi Goita received at the Republican Palace on Saturday the GNU Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Mohamed Issa, who heads the Libyan delegation at the meeting of the Alliance of African States held in Bamako.

The meeting, which was attended by Malian Prime Minister Choguel Maiga, discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen cooperation in various areas between the two countries.

A source in the Libyan delegation told the Libyan News Agency that the meeting with the Malian President comes within the framework of Libya’s intention to assume its leadership role in Africa.

The source stated that in this context, Issa held, on the sidelines of the meeting of the Alliance of African States, a number of bilateral meetings with the foreign ministers of Mali, Togo, and Cape Verde, focusing on strengthening and developing Libya’s relations with African countries.
