National and local reconciliation remain a central focus for U.S. assistance under the U.S. Strategy to Prevent Conflict, Norland says.

Tripoli 7 February 2024 (Lana) Special Envoy Ambassador, Richard Norland, congratulated the African Union High-Level Committee on Libya headed by Congo President Sassou Nguesso for convening its meeting last Monday in Brazzaville, describing it as an important meeting.

“ This meeting, with the participation of President of Presidential Council Mohamed Menfi and distinguished regional leaders, in support of the political process and national reconciliation in Libya, as well as reinforces the efforts of the embassy to launch political negotiations with key stakeholders,” Norland said in a tweet.

“The U.S. looks forward to the National Reconciliation Conference scheduled to take place April 28 in Sirte,” the embassy added.

Norland stressed that national and local reconciliation remain a central focus for U.S. assistance under the U.S. Strategy to Prevent Conflict and Promote Stability.
