The Libyan Center for Remote Sensing confirms the impossibility of seeing the Shawwal crescent on Monday.

Tripoli, April 8, 2024 (LANA) - The Libyan Center for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences issued an explanatory statement about the much confusion these days between skeptics and cynics about the authenticity of the beginning of the blessed month of Ramadan.

In its statement published yesterday, Sunday, the Center confirmed that the beginning of fasting in the country was undoubtedly correct because it was not possible to see the crescent moon on Sunday, March 10, corresponding to Shaaban 29, and this is what was previously mentioned in the report on the month of Ramadan.

The center explained that the crescent of Shawwal will be set on Monday, April 8, at exactly 8:22 p.m., that is, more than half an hour after sunset. Therefore, it is impossible to see the crescent on Monday evening, neither with the naked eye nor with a telescope or technology, because it is not present at all on the horizon. (The evidence for this is that a total solar eclipse will occur in North America. It should be noted that the eclipse is considered a visible conjunction that can be seen with the eye.)

The Libyan Center for Remote Sensing added that on Tuesday, April 9, corresponding to the 29th of Ramadan, the crescent will be above the horizon and can be seen with the naked eye. It will remain above the horizon for more than 60 minutes because it is approximately 24 hours old, and thus Eid for all Arab countries will be on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
