The Libyan delegation at the Abuja meeting to combat terrorism in Africa: Libya succeeded in eliminating terrorist groups

Abuja, April 23, 2024 (LANA) - The head of the Libyan delegation assigned by the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government to participate in the work of the international regional meeting to combat terrorism in Africa, held in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, on April 22 and 23, confirmed Libya’s success in eliminating terrorist groups in Libyan lands and regions. Among them is the liberation of the city of Sirte from the grip of the terrorist organization known as ISIS through Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous forces.

This came in a speech by the head of the Libyan delegation, Commander of the Counter-Terrorism Force, Major General "Mohamed Al-Zein" at the opening session of the international meeting to combat terrorism in Africa, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Nigeria, the Presidents of Togo and Ghana, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, and the Chairman of the Union Commission. The African Union, a number of African defense ministers, heads of missions and international organizations, and the Libyan delegation, which includes the Director of the Office of the Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahim Al-Muhandis, and the Chargé d’Affaires in charge of the Embassy in Abuja, “Imad Maatouq.”

The head of the delegation, Major General Mohammed Al-Zein, announced in his speech Libya's readiness and openness for cooperation, coordination and information exchange with friendly and brotherly African countries.
