OIC welcomes Trinidad and Tobago's decision to recognize the State of Palestine.

Jeddah, May 04, 2024 (LANA) - The Organization of Islamic Cooperation welcomed today, Saturday, Trinidad and Tobago’s decision to recognize the State of Palestine.

In a statement, the organization called on the rest of the world to take similar steps, in a way that strengthens the Palestinians’ efforts to establish their independent and fully sovereign state.

The organization stressed that this important step by Trinidad and Tobago is consistent with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, and contributes to enabling the Palestinian people to exercise their legitimate rights, including their right to return, self-determination, and embodying the establishment of an independent State of Palestine.

With this step, Trinidad and Tobago has joined Jamaica and Barbados in officially recognizing the State of Palestine.
