Brussels: A Libyan delegation discusses cooperation in securing and managing borders.

Brussels, May 17, 2024 (LANA) - A Libyan delegation from the Ministry of Interior, and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense of the National Unity Government in the Belgian capital, Brussels, yesterday, Thursday, in a meeting with specialists from the European Union Commission and a number of Union organizations working in Libya, discussed the file of border security and illegal immigration .

The Interior Ministry website explained via the International Information Network that, (on the sidelines of the meeting, the delegation held a meeting with the Director of Civil Operations for all civilian missions related to the European Union’s common security and defense policy, in the presence of the European Union Ambassador to Libya).

The meeting dealt with reviewing the work of the EUBAM mission in Libya, enhancing joint cooperation in securing and managing borders, and ways to support the relevant agencies in the Ministry of Interior and training police cadres to increase their competence in this field.

These meetings come based on the outcomes of the meeting held by the Interior Minister-designate, Major General Imad Mustafa Trabelsi, accompanied by Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Dbaiba and the President of the European Union Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, Wednesday, at the European Union headquarters.
