Dabaiba and Michel discuss lifting the air ban on Libyan aviation

Tripoli, May 15, 2024 (LANA) The Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, and the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, held a meeting today, Wednesday, in the Belgian capital, Brussels, to discuss a number of political, economic, and security issues, most notably the lifting of the air ban on Libyan aviation in European airspace.

The meeting between “Dabaiba” and “Michel” dealt with following up on the results of the technical committees formed by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority and working to complete them to lift the air embargo on Libyan aviation from European airspace. They stressed that this step will contribute to stability, development and support in all areas in the cooperation between Libya and the European Union.

During the meeting, Al-Dabaiba stressed the need to build a strong economic partnership with the European Union and its member states to be a nucleus for stability and investment in Libya, and to focus on the basic issues between Libya and the European Union, the most important of which are addressing the air embargo on Libyan aviation, irregular migration, and cooperation in the field of alternative energy production and supplies

Michel stressed the European Union's support for the efforts of the United Nations mission in all issues, the most important of which is holding fair and impartial elections.
