Symposium on illegal immigration in preparation for the African-European Conference.

Benghazi, May 05, 2024 (LANA) - The Ministry of State for illegal Immigration Affairs of the government assigned by Parliament, organized a scientific symposium in cooperation with the African Studies and Research Center, with the aim of addressing the file of illegal immigration and its repercussions, which will be held in Benghazi city in late May.

The symposium held under the title "illegal immigration between security and development approaches in the Mediterranean" during which a number of scientific papers were presented; In order to come up with a package of recommendations to ensure the success of the immigration governance project.

Among the most prominent of these papers are "national laws between security and development approaches", "security repercussions of illegal immigration and ways to combat them", "health security", and "effects of migration on the Libyan economy".

The symposium concluded to come out with a package of recommendations, most notably the call for the necessity of providing basic health and educational services to migrants, and to activate the international agreements that Libya had previously concluded through the enactment of legislation that set rules for international agreements to protect human rights into practice.

What recommended the formation of an integrated medical support team to support the institutions operating in the city of Kofra, to enable the displaced from the  state of Sudan to benefit from health services, and to facilitate the work of relief organizations working to provide support and assistance to the displaced.
