Al-Dabaiba and the European Transport Commission are following up on the work of the joint technical teams to lift the Libyan flight ban in European airspace.

Brussels, May 15, 2024 (LANA) - The Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, “Abdel Hamid Dabaiba,” and the European Commissioner for Transport, “Adina Wallin,” followed up on the work of the joint committee between the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority and the European Aviation Agency (EASA) and the results it reached, in the presence of the agency’s team and the head of the Civil Aviation Authority "Mohamed Shalebek".

The Prime Minister's Media Office stated that during today's meeting, the two sides reviewed the technical report submitted last December by the Civil Aviation Authority and the technical observations received regarding it.

According to the office, the European Commission praised the remarkable progress and positive program to develop the Libyan civil aviation system in accordance with the results of the steering committee for the draft EASA program for Euro-Mediterranean countries, reviewing the steps taken in the agreement concluded between the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Civil Aviation Authority, which contributes to completing European requirements. .

It also considered that Prime Minister Dabaiba’s follow-up of this file would contribute to addressing it and lifting the ban on Libyan flights over European airspace.

In turn - according to the same source - Al-Dabaiba stressed the importance of cooperation in this file because of its importance to the Libyan citizen and the Libyan state, and creating good conditions for the return of companies and investment between Europe and Libya.
