Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to officially recognize the State of Palestine.

Port of Spain, May 04, 2024 (LANA) - The government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago announced that it decided, at the Council of Ministers meeting, to officially recognize the State of Palestine.
This decision comes based on the recommendation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in an official statement issued by the government on Friday in the capital, Port of Spain.
The statement explained that the Council of Ministers believed that official recognition of Palestine by the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago would help achieve lasting peace, by strengthening the growing international consensus on the issue of Palestine’s independence.
It is noteworthy that the countries of Jamaica and Barbados announced earlier their recognition of the State of Palestine.
