US State Department: we do not consider any actions in Gaza as genocide

Pulbished on:

Washington, January 05, 2024  (LANA) - US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller confirmed that his country does not consider any actions in Gaza to constitute genocide, after South Africa began judicial proceedings against the Zionist entity in the International Court of Justice related to genocide due to its war on the Gaza Strip.

Miller said in a press conference on Thursday: “These are allegations that must be carefully verified. We do not see any acts that constitute genocide. This is what the State Department has determined.”

Miller said he had no assessment to share about whether war crimes or crimes against humanity had been committed.

This comes as the American administration criticized two ministers in the occupation government for calling for the resettlement of Palestinians outside the Gaza Strip, but said that the occupation government confirmed to American officials that their statements do not express its policy.

US officials said that a very large number of Palestinians were killed in the conflict. They urged the occupation forces, which are supplied with weapons by the United States, to make more efforts to protect civilians.

It should be noted that the International Criminal Court will hold public hearings on the 11th and 12th of January, at the request of South Africa. While the government of the occupying state said that it would defend itself against these accusations.
