Members of the Libyan House of Representatives participate in the third plenary session of the Arab Parliament in Cairo

Cairo, April 22, 2024 AD (LANA) - Members of the Libyan House of Representatives participated in the work of the third plenary session of the Arab Parliament of the fourth session of the third legislative term, which was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

The session discussed developments in the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip in light of the continuing brutal aggression and criminal acts carried out by the occupation authorities against our brothers in the occupied Palestinian territories, developments in the crisis situation in Sudan and Yemen were also discussed, as well as developments in the Libyan crisis, in addition to the draft political, economic, social and legal resolutions that were submitted to the standing committees in Parliament.

The session also reviewed the report of the Foreign and Political Affairs and National Security Committee and the political and security developments in the Arab world, in addition to the initial draft of the report on the political situation in the Arab world 2023, ways to enhance security and stability in the Arab world, the report of the Economic and Financial Affairs Committee and the ongoing preparations for the second edition of the forum of the Arab Economist on enhancing economic integration between Arab countries.

During the session, the report of the Legislative, Legal and Human Rights Affairs Committee on the situation of human rights in the Arab world in 2023 was presented, in addition to discussing an Arab parliamentary vision to confront the effects of climate change on human rights in the Arab world and preparing an Arab guideline law to combat illegal immigration in the Arab world, and a draft Arab law on the guide to combating bullying in the Arab world.

The report of the Committee on Social, Educational, Cultural Affairs, Women, and Youth was also discussed regarding the ongoing preparations for holding a symposium on protecting societal values in the Arab world, arrangements for launching the parliamentary document for Arab women, and ways to empower Arab youth to contribute effectively to the development process.
