State Minister for Women's Affairs participates in the round table held at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Tripoli, March 15, 2024 (LANA) - The Minister of State for Women’s Affairs, Houria Khalifa Tarmal, participated in the round table held, Wednesday, on the sidelines of the 68th session under the title: (Eradicating poverty for women and girls) at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

     During her speech, “Al-Tarmal” emphasized the contribution of the National Unity Government to the women’s issue and what it has done to provide a more luxurious life for Libyan women, ensuring their financial stability away from poverty through a series of policies and programs aimed at improving their quality of life.

     She pointed to the social services provided by the government and ensuring an increase in basic pensions for the segment of divorced, widowed and unmarried Libyan women, in addition to initiatives to support young women about to get married through the Marriage Support Fund and housing loans in accordance with specific standards and controls.

      “Al-Tarmal” explained that the government did not limit its support to Libyan women only, but also worked to ensure the livelihood of widowed and divorced Palestinian women and the segment of people with disabilities in Libya as well by providing them with a basic pension similar to Libyan women.
