Al-Manfi discusses with the American envoy and the embassy's charge d'affaires the state of political impasse in Libya.

Tripoli, March 6, 2024 (LANA) - The President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Manfi, discussed today, Wednesday in Tripoli, with the Special Envoy of the US President, Richard Norland, and the Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Libya, Jeremy Brent, ways to get out of the political impasse and move forward towards the elections.

According to the media office of the President of the Council, the meeting focused on some political, economic and military files, and ways to get out of the political impasse and move forward towards elections in Libya.

According to the office, the American envoy appreciated the role of the Council President and his tireless attempts to create bridges of communication with the actors and those concerned with the Libyan issue with the aim of reaching the elections, looking forward to reviving the Supreme Finance Committee to play a greater role during the coming period as a tool that guarantees the fair distribution of resources with disclosure, transparency and rationalization of spending.

In turn, Al-Manfi stressed the continuation of working in partnership with the United Nations mission in Libya to reach a real political settlement based on appealing to the people directly and activating the role of regional and international organizations to contribute to enhancing dialogue and consensus.
