Tripoli, 19 January, 2022 (Lana) During a phone call, with Richard Norland, the US ambassador and special envoy to Libya, the Vice President of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, discussed the course of the electoral process in Libya.

 Al-Lafi stressed the need to develop a clear map and a specific timeframe for the implementation of the elections, while relying on the House of Representatives to push this path forward, in a manner that meets the aspirations of the Libyan people, and according to a mechanism of integrity and transparency, the results of which are accepted by all parties.

For his part, Ambassador Norland stressed that the United States strongly supports following a path that can lead to free, fair and inclusive elections, within the original timeframe stipulated in the road map of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum.
