The Arab Parliament welcomes the results of the Arab League meeting regarding supporting the political settlement in Libya.

Cairo, March 12, 2024 (LANA) - The Arab Parliament affirmed in a statement today, Tuesday, its full support for Arab efforts and initiatives that would achieve security and stability in Libya and realize the aspirations of its people, in a way that achieves the highest national interest.

In its statement, the Arab Parliament welcomed the results of the meeting, which was hosted by the League of Arab States in Cairo, and included the heads of the Presidential Council, the House of Representatives, and the High Council of the Libyan State, to support the political settlement aimed at holding presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya, and their agreement on the necessity of forming a unified government whose mission is to supervise the presidential and parliamentary elections, providing the necessary services to citizens, unifying sovereign positions, and agreeing to urgently hold a second round to complete this agreement and implement it.

The Arab Parliament also renewed its position in support of the unity of Libya and its territorial integrity and its rejection of foreign interference, stressing that the Libyan consensus on holding presidential and legislative elections will have a decisive role in achieving security, stability and development in the country.
