Tripoli, March 7, 2024 (LANA) - The two representatives of the Presidential Council, “Musa Al-Koni” and “Abdullah Al-Lafi,” announced today, Thursday, that they welcomed any comprehensive political initiative within the framework of the United Nations mission that would enable elections to be held and end the political division as necessary to achieve stability in the country.Al-Koni and Al-Lafi's announcement came during their meeting today, Thursday, with the Special Envoy of the US President, Ambassador Richard Norland, and the Charge d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Libya, Jeremy Brent, to discuss the latest developments in the political situation in the country, ways to address the political impasse, and a number of issues of common interest.According to the Presidential Media Office, the meeting with the American envoy discussed the latest developments in the reconciliation file, which has reached advanced stages, and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in many fields, especially economic and security, by securing the southern borders, establishing spatial development in the villages and cities of the southern regions, and working to solve the economic challenges in the country.The office quoted Ambassador Norland as confirming his country's continued support for the efforts of the Presidential Council that aim to achieve stability to reach the electoral process, and for the efforts to hold the inclusive conference during this year, as one of the guarantees of achieving lasting peace and stability in Libya.(LANA)
