Launch of training course at the Election Commission entitled (Enhancing Election Security).

Tripoli, May 6, 2024 (LANA) - The activities of the training course organized by the High National Elections Commission in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior began today, Monday, in Tripoli, under the title (Enhancing the Concept of Election Security).

The launch of the session was attended by the Chairman of the Commission’s Council, Imad Al-Sayeh, the Director-General, Muhammad Iqhais, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Directorate Affairs, Major General Bashir Al-Amin, the Director of the General Department of Security Operations at the Ministry of Interior, Ali Al-Nuwaisri, the Director of the Field Operations Department, Al-Sadiq Al-Zakkar, and the Director of the Awareness and Communication Department, Khaled Al-Musa.

In his speech at the opening of the session, Al-Sayeh stressed the importance of cooperation with all components and agencies of the Ministry of Interior in order to achieve the goal of securing the electoral process, and providing a safe environment for the voter, candidate, and observer to exercise their right to vote, each according to his duties and rights prescribed by law.

In his speech, Al-Sayeh called on all officials in the legislative and executive authorities, and all those related to the relevant security institutions, to the need to pay greater attention to the security institution concerned with securing the elections, given that the electoral process does not only concern the Commission, but rather is a combination of state institutions, and the security institution takes advanced responsibility in this side.

For his part, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for District Affairs, Major General Bashir Al-Amin, stressed the cooperation between the Commission and the Ministry of Interior, stressing the importance of training and building the capabilities of officers and non-commissioned officers regarding information about securing elections. He said in his speech: “We seek, with the specialists in the Commission, to correct all lapses that may hinder electoral security, so that the electoral process is conducted in a safe atmosphere and so that all voters can cast their votes in a peaceful atmosphere.”

The activities of the first day of the course include training sessions, including: the concept of electoral security, the electoral cycle, and electoral security partners.

The training course, held under the supervision of the Commission’s Field Operations Department, targets (35) officers and non-commissioned officers affiliated with the Ministry of Interior in the Western Region.
