Tripoli, May 5, 2024 (LANA) - The Minister of Transportation of the National Unity Government, “Mohammed Salem Al-Shahoubi,” confirmed the return of Royal Jordanian and Qatar Airways flights to and from Libya this month.

Al-Shahoubi indicated during his meeting with Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba that discussions are ongoing with Saudi Airlines to resume its flights to and from Libya.

The meeting was attended by the head of the Civil Aviation Authority, Muhammad Shalibak, the director of the Airports Authority, Muhammad Bait al-Mal, the head of the Transportation Projects Implementation Agency, Sami Al-Absh, the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Adel Jumaa, and a number of department directors in the Airports Authority.

The meeting came to follow up on a number of files related to civil aviation and air transport, and the Airports Authority’s plan to activate local airports, provide the necessary equipment for them, and follow up on the executive procedures of the Civil Aviation Authority regarding opening new international destinations and implementing the requirements of the World Aviation Organization to lift the freeze on Libyan airports.
