NHR calls on the security and military authorities in Libya to adhere to international laws and covenants guaranteeing freedom of the press and media.

Tripoli, May 05, 2024 (LANA) - The National Human Rights Corporation in Libya has reaffirmed that freedom of the press and the media is essential to achieving peace, justice and sustainable development in the country.
The Foundation called - in a statement published on its official page on the "Facebook" website on the occasion of the International Day of Freedom of the Press - all the security and military authorities in the country generally needed to adhere to the laws, customs, covenants and international advertisements guaranteeing freedom of opinion, expression, freedom of the press and media.
The Foundation's statement also stressed the suspension of the practice of muzzling policy or restricting journalistic and media work in Libya.
At the end of its statement, called for the suspension of all forms of practices and violations that directly affect the freedom of opinion, expression, press, media and the right to peaceful demonstration.
