Tripoli Security Directorate celebrates the activities of World Traffic Day.

Tripoli, May 04, 2024  (LANA) - Today, Saturday, the Tripoli Security Directorate commemorated the activities of World Traffic Day, under the slogan “With our awareness, we arrive safe” in conjunction with the Unified Arab Traffic Week.

The media office of the Tripoli Security Directorate stated that the aim of commemorating this day is to remember the victims of traffic accidents, and to shed light on the role of police officers on the roads as they try to direct traffic in accordance with traffic rules and laws.

The Directorate explained that members of the Traffic Affairs Office distributed brochures and gifts to drivers of motor vehicles within the city, reminding them of the importance of adhering to the rules and etiquette of driving on the roads, and directing their attention to adhering to the legal speed limit and not using mobile phones while driving.

It is noteworthy that the fourth day of May is World Traffic Day, in order to raise awareness of the seriousness of road accidents that cause thousands of deaths annually. Its establishment dates back to 1969, and was approved by the Geneva Conference, then adopted by the League of Arab States in 1972.
