A delegation from the unity government participates in the African counter-terrorism meeting

Abuja, April 22, 2024 (LANA) - The work of the African High-Level Counter-Terrorism Meeting on strengthening regional cooperation and building institutions to address the evolving threat of terrorism in Africa will be held in the Nigerian capital, “Abuja”, on the 22nd and 23rd of April, with the participation of a delegation from the Government of National Unity headed by Commander of the Counter-Terrorism Force, Major General Mohammed Al-Zein, and Director of the Office of the Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahim Al-Muhandis.

Sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported to the Libyan News Agency that the delegation assigned by the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government met on the sidelines of the African meeting with the Nigerian Minister of Defense, Mohammed Abu Bakr, to discuss enhancing cooperation and exchanging information in the field of combating terrorism and mutual benefit from the experience of the two countries in combating the activity of terrorist groups and organizations.

According to the sources, during this meeting, which was attended by the Charge d'Affairs of the Embassy, Imad Maatouq, on behalf of the Minister of Defense, the command of the Counter-Terrorism Force extended an invitation to the Nigerian Minister of Defense to visit Libya, who in turn welcomed it.

The sources indicated that the Libyan delegation will participate in the work of the African Conference to highlight the distinguished Libyan experience in eliminating terrorist organizations that were inside Libyan territory.
