Tripoli, April 29, 2024 (LANA) - Representative of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, discussed today, Monday, with the Japanese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Parliamentary Affairs, Fukazawa Yoichi, ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries, and arrangements for the Japanese Embassy to resume its work in the capital, Tripoli.

The media office of the Presidential Council stated that the meeting discussed the follow-up of the agreements signed between the two sides, in a number of fields, especially education and the economy, and the results of the working visit made by Representative “Al-Lafi” to Japan during last January, and the latest developments in the reconciliation file, with the participation of all parties involved in the political process.

According to the media office, Al-Lafi expressed his appreciation for Japan’s role in supporting a peaceful solution to the political crisis in Libya, and its keenness to consolidate diplomatic relations with Libya.

For his part, the Japanese Deputy Minister praised the efforts of the Presidential Council in laying the foundations for reconciliation in the country, considering that this file is the basis for peace in Libya.
