Al-Hawaij calls on French companies to invest in Libya.

Tripoli, April 19, 2024 (LANA) - Minister of Economy and Trade, “Mohamed Al-Hawaij,” expressed his ministry’s readiness to provide all facilities for French companies and investors to enter the Libyan market and create a true partnership between the private sector that helps move the wheel of the national economy.

During his meeting with the French Ambassador to Libya, Mustafa Maharaj, at the Ministry’s office, Al-Hawaij called on French companies to invest in the fields of energy, oil and gas to support and move the wheel of investment in the targeted sectors within the Ministry’s economic development and diversification plan.

For his part, the French ambassador stressed the necessity of organizing a joint economic forum in the capital, Tripoli, during the year 2024, noting that his country’s embassy is working to provide visa procedures for Libyans, through its Tripoli office before the end of the year.

Al-Hawaij extended an invitation to French companies to participate in the activities of the Tripoli International Fair scheduled to be held in May 2024, stressing the necessity of granting visas to Libyans from within the French embassy in Libya.

The Minister also called on the Ministry's Department of Foreign Trade and International Cooperation to coordinate with the Commercial Office of the French Embassy regarding activating agreements and memorandums of understanding between the two countries.

  The meeting was attended by the Director of the Foreign Trade and International Cooperation Department at the Ministry, “Issam Al-Malhouf,” the Head of the Commercial Representation Department, “Abdul Rahman Al-Shutaiwi,” and the Head of the Economic Department at the French Embassy, “Yvan Pottier.”
