Meeting of the Italian Libyan Committee to amend the memorandum of understanding on illegal immigration.

Tripoli, November 4, 2020 (LANA) - The Libyan-Italian Committee in
charge of amending the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the
two countries on illegal immigration "held a meeting during which it
discussed amending the memorandum of understanding in the field of
illegal immigration, human trafficking, fuel smuggling and border
security signed between the Government of National Accord and the
Italian government." In February 2017.
The committee's meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the
Anti-Illegal Migration Agency in Tripoli, was attended by the head of
the agency, the mayor Al-Mabrouk Abdel Hafiz Milad, Italy's
ambassador to Libya, Giuseppe Buccino, the director of the European
Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and a number
of officials from both sides.
It was agreed to form a mini-committee on both sides "to come up with
a project that meets the demands of both parties with full respect
for the sovereignty of the two countries to comprehensively address
the phenomenon of illegal immigration, in a manner that ensures that
the sovereignty of the Libyan state over its territory is not
compromised".
