Ankara, August 18, 2020 (LANA) - Turkish presidential spokesperson,
Ibrahim Kalin, said ,on Tuesday, that his country does not want to
enter into confrontation with any country on Libyan soil, expressing
his belief that Egypt can play a constructive role in Libya.
In an interview with Al-Jazeera, Kalin expressed his country's
support for the idea of disarming the cities of Sirte and Al-Jufrah,
indicating that this step would be useful to end the clashes.
He added, "If the legitimate Libyan government ratifies the
disarmament of Sirte and Al-Jufrah with conditions that can be
accepted, then we support them, but this step must be fair and
transparent, as these two cities can be the window for a political
solution".
He continued, that Turkey believes in the possibility of achieving a
political solution in Libya, and that it does not prefer a military
solution in any part of the country, stressing that his country
opposes any formal or informal plan to divide Libya, and that Ankara
has repeatedly stated that it does not want the continuation of
military activities in Libya.
