HNEC announces registration of electorates.

Commission (HNEC) has announced to commence registration of
electorates as of Wednesday 6, 2017. The announcement was made by Dr
Emad Al saiah, President of the Commission today in the presence of
the UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salama, his deputy, and members of the
commission board and member of the Constitutive Assembly, media
reporters and civil society organizations.
He said opening the registration was designed to enable
unregistered citizens to register or change their polling stations.
He also said the electoral record has not been updated since June
2014. The process to continue up to 60 days that may be renewed, he
added. Libyan expatriates will be registered in February 2018, he
said. Dr Emad Al saiah urged all Libyans at home and abroad to
exercise their political rights, urging state institutions to help
HNEC in discharging its duties. He also thanks all international
institutions that offered support to the election process. Salam on
his part congratulated the Libyans for launching the registration of
electorates and the signing of the agreement to support the election
process.
