Italian coastguard: 700 migrants rescued near Libyan shores.

Rome, 14.02.2015(Lana) Two commercial ships and an Italian coastguard vessel rescued nearly 700 migrants from congested boats near the Libyan shores on Friday. The spokesperson of the Italian coastguard said the command center in Rome organized the rescue operation, which began yesterday after receiving a call through a satellite telephone. ANSA reported that the call was made by the Italian embassy in Tripoli. An Italian foreign affairs official indicated that between 120 - 130 Italians are residing in Libya.
