The Hague, February 17, 2024 (LANA) - The International Court of Justice, the highest judicial body in the United Nations, confirmed on Friday evening that the Israeli occupation must respect the measures it had previously announced regarding Gaza Strip.

The International Court of Justice said in a statement, “This disturbing situation (in reference to the possibility of expanding the war on the city of Rafah) requires the immediate and effective implementation of the measures issued by the Court in its decision dated January 26, 2024, and whose implementation includes all parts of the Gaza Strip, including Rafah, so that this matter does not require announcing additional measures.”

The International Court of Justice decided that the so-called Israel, the occupying power, must take all measures to prevent acts prohibited under the Genocide Convention, and take measures to ensure the immediate provision of the urgent humanitarian needs of the Gaza Strip.

The court also decided that the Israeli occupation must prevent incitement to genocide in the Gaza Strip, punish anyone who incites it, take measures to prevent the destruction and preservation of evidence related to the commission of genocide, and submit a report on the aforementioned measures to the court within one month from the date of issuance of the decision.
