Protests by Air Transport, Supply Company and Ground Services Workers.
Pulbished on:
Tripoli, 16 March 2106(Lana) Workers of air transport sector and
those of the supply companies and ground services on Wednesday have
staged a protest to press for demands to pay their 7 months delayed
salaries.
The protests were called by the air transport workers unions, and
the General Union of Libyan Workers.
An ad hoc committee selected by the unions at the affected
companies has reached an agreement to start a strike, which slated to
begin on Sunday March 20, and to stage continued protests starting
from Wednesday March 16 until the demands of the striking workers
have been met, including payment of their salaries which they said
have not been paid for 7 months.
The committee also underlined the need for tackling all problems
banning the Libyan Airlines from meeting its obligations to
international organisations, and set up a technical committee to look
into the issue of the Afriqiyah Airways plane with the concerned
bodies, as well as implementing the Prime Minister's decision No 101
of 2014 over the transfer of air controllers to the Libyan Holding
Company.
The committee said that in view of non-response by concerned
bodies despite the repeated correspondence, we have decided to begin
strikes which will start from Sunday March 20 and to continue until
our demands have been met.
The committee published a timetable for the strike which to start
at 6.00 am until 2.00pm on Sunday and Monday March 21 and 22, and
from 6.00 am to 6.00pm from Tuesday to Saturday March 26.
