Boat Carrying Immigrants Confirmed to Have Sunk in the Mediterranean.

Rome, 19 April 2015(Lana) A Boat carrying about 700 immigrants has sunk in the Mediterranean waters, and only 28 of its passengers have been rescued, a spokesman for the Italian coast guard said on Sunday. The ill-fated boat was nearer to the Libyan coast than the Italian Island of Lampedusa when it sank, the spokesman said, adding that 20 vessels and 3 aircraft were taking part in the rescue operation.
