Geneva, 11.11.2015(Lana) UNICEF expressed concern over
situation of Libyan children against the backdrop of the security
situation in the country since 2011.
UNICEF spokesperson said in a statement Tuesday that 40% out of
2.4 Libyans are children who need one form of support and protection.
He said 270,000 Libyan children in Benghazi alone need
psychological and social support due to armed -conflict related
violence.
He explained that the armed conflict and political instability
in Libya since 2011 exposed children to many forms of violence and
exploitation, asserting that the organization is intensifying their
efforts to provide best protection.
The organization underlined that it supervises a training
programme to support Libyan authorities in the development of the
justice system that responds to children needs and in line with UN
convention on children rights ratified by Libya.
