  Addis Ababa, February 18, 2024 (LANA) - Heads of State and Government of the African Union had elected the Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani as the new President of the African Union for the year 2024.

The President of the Union of the Comoros, Ghazali Othmani, handed over his presidency to Ghazouani at the opening of the thirty-seventh summit of the African Union in Addis Ababa yesterday, Saturday, according to the Ethiopian News Agency "ENA". The new President of the African Union promised to carry out his continental responsibilities with passion.
