Signing a memorandum of understanding between Libya and Italy for cooperation in the field of civil aviation.

Tripoli, September 30, 2023  (LANA) - The Libyan Civil Aviation Authority and the Italian civil aviation authority signed a memorandum of understanding at the Ministry of Transportation in Tripoli today, Saturday, for cooperation in the field of civil aviation between the two countries.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by the head of the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority, Mohamed Shalebek, and the head of the Italian Civil Aviation Authority, Pierluigi De Palma, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport for Air Transport Affairs, Khaled Souissi, the Italian Ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Alberini, and the head of the Economic and Commercial Office at the Italian Embassy.

According to the Ministry of Transportation of the Government of National Unity, the memorandum of understanding aims to develop cooperation in the field of civil aviation and air transport and to facilitate and encourage air transport companies between the two countries to operate charter and regular flights. The two sides also agreed to sign a new air transport agreement between the two countries at a later time.

This morning, a Mediterranean Sky Airlines flight departed from Tripoli's Mitiga Airport to the Italian capital, Rome, which is considered the first after a 10-year break between the two countries.
