The 49th Conference of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation kicks off in Nouakchott.

Nouakchott, March 16, 2023 (LANA) - The work of the 49th Conference of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation began in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, today, Thursday, under the slogan: “Mediocrity and Moderation are the security and stability valve" .

According to the Mauritanian News Agency, the participants in the conference will discuss a number of political, economic, cultural, social, scientific, humanitarian and media issues, including the Palestinian issue, developments in the Afghan issue, the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, Mali and the Sahel region, and the situation of minorities and Muslim communities in non-member countries.

The ongoing efforts to combat violent extremism and terrorism, and the phenomenon of "Islamophobia", will also be discussed, coinciding with the first anniversary of the United Nations declaring March 15 as the International Day against "Islamophobia".
