continue their celebrations marking the 5th anniversary of February
revolution.
Libyan people, individuals, groups and families converged into
their cities and towns main squares from the early hours of Wednesday
morning to take part spontaously in the popular celebrations. The
jubilant people holding the national flag in a scene embodying
sincere love to a homeland restored after great sacrifices during
which scores of martyrs were offered and during which blood of
Libyans from all regions was mixed in an epic revolution.
jubilant children wore their best national dress and chanted
slogans expressing love for the homeland and embodied by their
drawings the moments of triumph and victory, as warplanes hovered
overhead to salute the masses of the people at martyrs square which
converged from various Libyan cities and towns.
The crowds chanted national songs collectively that echoed
throughout the cities, expressing loyalty to the martyrs who paid by
their blood and pure souls for the sake of freedom and homeland.
Lana reporters noted that the families of the martyrs carried the
portraits of the martyrs to underscore that the sacrifices of their
beloved ones were not in vain, for had not been for their sacrifices
these masses would not be here today.
The people of Jadu city celebrated the revolution's anniversary
which uprooted the dictatorial regime. families of the martyrs, the
missing persons attended the celebrations along members of the
municipal council and elderly and other local officials.
Speeches were made memorizing the heroic stances of the
revolutionaries of the cities during their participation in 17
February battles. at the end of the celebration families of the
martyrs and missing people were honoured including the family of
martyr Khalifa al-Hamassi who fallen a martyr along with his brothers
in Libyan National Salvation Front in the operation to storm Bab
Al-Azzizia barracks in Tripoli in 1984.
Misrata City also witnessed a popular demonstration from the
early hours of the morning up to the late hours of last night. The
streets were packed with vehicles that roomed streets and squares
decorated with flags and portraits of the martyrs expressing joy of
the people at this occasion.
A big parade was organized Wednesday evening in which civil
society organizations, boy scouts, civil defense, cavalry, companies
and institutions took part. Diplomatic security, first central
force,. common security committee also paraded in this historic
anniversary.
Khoms also organized a celebration in which speakers called for
making supreme national interest so libya over other minor interests
and direct resources to building the homeland. Khoms like other
Libyan cities was decorated with the national flag and placards
expressing joy of February revolution.
The people of Wadn, southern Libya also marked the 5th
anniversary of the revolution by converging into the Martyr Square in
the city hoisting the national flag and carrying placards expressing
joy at the anniversary.
Other Libyan cities also witnessed similar joys celebrations. In
Sebha the people marked the 5th anniversary of the revolution. Lana
reported said the main squares and streets of Sebha were decorated
with the national flag and placards expressing joy at this occasion.
Fireworks were also used to express joy and pride at the revolution
anniversary.
Sources said celebration and various programmers are to be
organized over the coming days to mark the revolution anniversary.
Celebrations marking revolution anniversary were also organized
in Ghiryan city, the people of the city marched through the main
streets of the city from the early hours of the day carrying the
national flag and placards. The joys masses chanted slogans and
carried the portraits of the martyrs and sounding the horns of their
cars as a sign of joy and pride. Many progranmes are planned for the
celebrations including fairs and exhibitions of classical cars,
motorcycle shows and Calvary and boy scouts shows and fairs for
homemade traditional artifacts.
