Celebration of 5th Anniversary of February 17 Revolution.

Tripoli, 17 February 2016(Lana) An event was last night staged at the headquarters of the General National Congress in Tripoli, to mark the 5th anniversary of the February 17 Revolution, and the completion of the work by the committee entrusted with revision of Libyan laws in accordance with the Islamic Sharia, which was endorsed by the General National Congress. The event was attended by the President of GNC Nuri Abu Sahmain, a number of GNC members, the Head of the National Salvation Government and several cabinet ministers, as well as the chief of staff of the Libyan Army, Army officers and heads of diplomatic corps. At the celebration a film was screened, it showed the historical periods that Libya had gone through up to the historic moment at which Libyans regained their independence, raised their national flag and had their own national anthem, thanks to the struggle which the Libyans had to wage to reclaim their independence and national sovereignty. That struggle was crowned with the UN Resolution No 280, which gave the country independence, the thing which King Idris declared from the balcony of his palace in Benghazi that finally Libya has become an independent sovereign state.
