Tripoli, 13.01.2016(Lana) Deputy Special Representative to the UN
Secretary General and UN Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian
Affairs in libya, Ali al-Zatari has vigorously condemned the recent
attack that targeted Benghazi power generation station, saying the
attack amounts to a war crime.
In a statement Wednesday, al-Zatari expressed profound concern
over humanitarian situation in the country. He pointed out that such
despicable attacks represent an additional pressure on already
exhausted service rendering mechanisms.
I was shocked by such acts that directly impact lives of
civilians and that attacks on civilian targets and service rendering
institutions are attacks on ordinary people which is prohibited by
international humanitarian law and amounts to a war crime, he added.
Al-Zatari urged all parties to ensure the security and safety of
service rendering institutions that cater for the basic need of all
Libyans.
