1 Out of 4 Children Out of School in Countries of Conflict.

'UNICEF' on Monday warned that more than 20 million school age
children are out of school in countries rocked with conflicts.
The Head of Education in UNICEF Jo Borneh said in a statement
'school arm children with knowledge and the skill necessary to
rebuild their societies after end of conflicts.'
According to an analysis published by UNICEF on Monday the
countries with highest rates of children out of school included South
Sudan, where 51% of school age children are out of school, Niger with
47% out of school, and Afghanistan and Sudan with 40% or more out of
school.
Children living in countries affected by conflicts have lost
homes and family members and also safety and routine, and now unable
to learn how to write and read . They risk losing the chance to
contribute to their economies and societies when they reach manhood,
Borneh said.
She said children in those countries where there were conflict
also risk being drawn into the ranks of the armed groups.
