Al-Jufra, March 24, 2025 (LANA) – The first dialogue session to support the national reconciliation file across Libya began on Sunday, in the city of Hun, covering legal, political, and social aspects, in addition to the media aspect.

The session, which was attended by a number of civil society institutions, activists, human rights activists, representatives of public and private entities, and those interested in political affairs in the Al-Jufra region, addressed several topics, focusing on the importance of supporting the national reconciliation file and the need for all parties to adopt this initiative and implement it on the ground, thus achieving the building of a state of institutions and its success.

The dialogue discussions emphasized the importance of continuing these community initiatives in consolidating a culture of reconciliation and peace in managing the national reconciliation file.

Yathrib Maayouf, Director of the Women's Affairs Office in the Central Region, stated that the dialogue session focused on four main axes: the legal framework for national reconciliation; the role of civil society institutions and individuals in affirming national reconciliation to resolve all the national issues facing the country; and the role of local and official media in consolidating the culture of national reconciliation and its impact on the political reality in Libya in favor of the concept of national reconciliation, reparations, and concessions for the good of the nation.

For his part, Ahmed Abu Talib, Social Coordinator for the Jufra region, emphasized the importance of the participation of all components of society in national reconciliation mechanisms. He provided a historical account of the stages experienced by several countries around the world that overcame their political differences and embraced national reconciliation.

The first session concluded with several recommendations that emphasized the importance of Libyans meeting on Libyan soil and working to ensure that reconciliation brings together all parties without exception, given that the path and goal of national reconciliation is to achieve stability and economic growth, which is the path to unifying economic and political institutions to achieve a stable and secure state in which all Libyans enjoy justice and equality.
