Benghazi, September 18, 2024 (LANA) - The theatrical performances and theatrical festive that the city of Benghazi is experiencing continue for the fifth consecutive day within the programs and events of Benghazi, Capital of Islamic Culture.
The stage of the People's Theater in the city of Benghazi witnesses various theatrical performances and works in the presence of Libyan theater stars and Arab guests in addition to workshops and seminars on theater supervised by the festival committee.
Dr. Muhammad Abaza, a faculty member at the University of Tunis and the Higher Institute of Theater, expressed his happiness in a statement to the Libyan Al-Anbaa newspaper, to attend the Benghazi Theater Festival. He said that by watching many of the theatrical performances, he was sure that the Libyan theater is recovering, developing and advancing, and there are many theatrical performances that he admired.
Abaza added: "There are many efforts that indicate the brilliance and success of the Libyan theater at the level of scenography, acting and texts, in addition to the good selection of ideas that occupy the Arab street in general and form a link to many of the issues it experiences."
Regarding the theater of the city of Al-Bayda, the theater artist Rajab Faraj Butalaq said: "We would like, through the Benghazi Theater Arts Festival in its second session, the session of the late "Rajab Al-Aqouri", to present our works through which we send a message to the Libyan and Arab people in general to continue the struggle and fight for freedom, and this is what our theatrical work addressed this evening."
Butalaq described the Benghazi Popular Theater as a work cell and said, "The Benghazi Theater stage is one of the strongest Libyan theatrical platforms, and it is not strange, that it hosts this event bears the name of one of the stars of the city of Benghazi, the late artist "Rajab Al-Aqouri", who left a wide legacy for the Benghazi Popular Theater.
For his part, the artist and theater artist Abd-Sayed Adam said about the Marj City Theater: "This edition was distinguished by many works from different Libyan cities, and this festival strengthened the harmony and brotherhood between the cities of Libya."
Regarding the Jdabiya Theater, artist and theater artist Mohamed Ahmida confirmed that there is no doubt that the first success achieved by this festival is gathering all the creators in Libyan theater on one stage to confirm that our people are not divided by anything.
Ahmida added: "What distinguishes this event is the competition and fraternal creativity, and we appeal to the supervising committee to commit to localizing this festival on its date every year so that this date is an hour in which the people of Libya gather and renew the message of Libyan theater and perform its national role."
In turn, journalist Ali Khuwailid praised the presentation of the festival in this image that befits the city of Benghazi, saying: "We congratulate this distinguished launch of the second edition of the Benghazi Festival for Theater Arts," stressing that this edition is distinguished and successful in terms of organizational aspects and the selection of the works presented.
For his part, Dr. Fawzi Al-Ghuwail said: "Through the shows, I realized that art in Libya and Libyan theater are still fine," noting that the shows exceeded all expectations from the amazing direction and wonderful performance presented by the actors, in addition to the fact that this edition is a Libyan event that brought together all Libyans.
Al-Ghuwail added: “Art elevates these creators, and the country will be fine as long as national cohesion and the spirit of creativity continue on the Libyan stage.”
