Tripoli, August 14, 2024 (LANA) - The deputy of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, welcomed the statement of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya issued today, Wednesday, regarding the recent developments in Libya.

Al-Lafi pointed out in a tweet he published on his account on the (X) platform, that the mission's statement reflects its concern about the recent developments and their negative effects on the state of stability, noting that it came in line with what he had put forward in particular.

The deputy of the Presidential Council affirmed his full support for the efforts and endeavors made by the mission to achieve consensus among all parties, stressing the importance of adhering to a political path that includes everyone and leads to presidential and parliamentary elections.

Al-Lafi expressed his aspiration for these efforts to continue to ensure reaching comprehensive and sustainable solutions that serve the interests of the Libyan people.

Al-Lafi had previously confirmed that "taking any steps that violate the political agreement is the same as nothingness", referring to the House of Representatives' decision to end the term of the executive authority that came in the preliminary stage.
