Benghazi - July 09, 2024 - (LANA) - The Libyan News Agency (LANA), and the Faculty of Information at the University of Benghazi signed today, Tuesday, a memorandum of understanding to enhance joint cooperation in the scientific and professional fields.

The agreement aims to exchange experiences, develop capabilities, and provide practical training opportunities for students, which contributes to supporting the progress of the Libyan media and enhancing the skills of journalists.

The terms of the memorandum included holding seminars, scientific lectures, and workshops, holding scientific conferences at the national, regional, and international levels, activating field teaching for students at the Libyan News Agency, in addition to training and development programs for journalists in various specializations, organizing targeted awareness campaigns, and conducting scientific research on the agency’s work.

The terms of the memorandum also included allocating free training seats for students, with the possibility of employing distinguished students after their graduation, and exchanging master’s and doctoral theses and graduation projects, in addition to preparing joint applied and field programs.

The Dean of the Faculty of Information at the University of Benghazi, Professor Dr. Muhammad Salem Al-Mnifi, said that the Faculty of Information at the University signed a scientific, professional and applied memorandum of understanding with the Libyan News Agency.

In a statement to the Libyan newspaper Al-Anbaa, Al-Mnifi explained that the aim of signing the memorandum is to enable students to apply their media skills in a scientific manner within the Libyan News Agency, whether in the written or electronic press.

Al-Mnifi pointed out that scientific research will be conducted to serve the agency from an academic standpoint, noting that they are preparing general titles for preparing master’s and doctoral dissertations next year within the framework of the agency’s work with all its means and college departments.

He confirmed that the distinguished students will be trained at the college for a period of three months, and then they will obtain a media practice certificate, which will include them joining the agency and officially becoming a journalist working there or one of its tributaries.
