Al-Manfi discusses with European Union ambassadors the latest developments in the political situation in Libya.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, June 26, 2024 (LANA) - President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, discussed today, Wednesday, with the European Union ambassadors accredited to Libya the latest developments in the political situation taking place in the Libyan arena.
The Union ambassadors affirmed their full support for the national reconciliation project adopted by the Council, and any dialogue that would lead Libya to elections, in addition to coordination in combating illegal immigration, terrorism and organized crime, according to the media office of the President of the Council.
The ambassadors warned of financial corruption and its impact on supporting destabilization in the Mediterranean and Sahel region, in addition to supporting the creation of a national mechanism to combat financial corruption and smuggling of all kinds through a national mechanism and with the support of the European Union.
According to the office, during the meeting, the support of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya was emphasized to facilitate a political process under Libyan leadership and ownership.
The ambassadors welcomed the call to hold municipal elections and the call to conduct them throughout the country, support Libya in removing fighters, mercenaries and foreign forces, and work to find a national mechanism to distribute the budget and resources in a transparent and fair manner.
