The launch of the Derna Reconstruction Conference, with the participation of delegations from 70 international and Arab companies

Derna, November 1, 2023 (LANA) - The International Conference for the Reconstruction of Derna and the areas affected by floods and torrents in Derna and the Jabal Alahkdar regions was launched in Derna, on Wednesday, with the aim of discussing and consulting on a specific vision for reconstruction and construction.

The opening of the conference was attended by the Prime Minister-designate of the House of Representatives, Osama Hammad, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the House of Representatives, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, a number of military and security leaders, a group of ministers and mayors of municipalities, and delegations of countries participating in the conference from major regional and international companies.

The government said that the conference is attended by more than 70 representatives of international and Arab companies from: China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Portugal, the Emirates, Turkey, Romania, France, Belarus, and Egypt.

At the opening of the conference, Prime Minister Osama Hammad welcomed the participating delegations, expressing thanks to everyone who contributed to the rescue, relief and recovery operations.

Hammad said that true partnership will enable the government to come up with effective recommendations on the ground, through expanded scientific and technical discussions during the conference.

The Prime Minister called on national companies to move towards forming real coalitions with international and regional companies, to exchange experiences and capabilities, to reach the highest quality rates in design and implementation, to achieve international and local cooperation, which raises the level of intra-economic performance and achieves the desired development plans.

On the sidelines of the conference, a special photo exhibition was held that contained paintings, photographs, and artwork with historical, thematic, and artistic themes related to the events of Hurricane Daniel and the losses it caused, where the participating missions and companies were shown a number of these scenes caused by torrents and floods.
