New York, June 17, 2023 (Lana): UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo, said that the Libyan people want to elect new leaders for their country, restore legitimacy, and end all transitional stages.
In a press statement, DiCarlo called on the international community to take a unified position in the coming weeks and months to push for holding elections in Libya by the end of 2023.
DiCarlo welcomed the recent decision of the Arab summit on the situation in Libya and considered it evidence of the active participation of the Arab League in resolving the crisis in Libya.
DiCarlo commended the support of the Arab League for the continued efforts of the UN to find a political solution for Libya.
